Yolanda Suminski

        Yolanda “Yollie” (Guzzo) Suminski, age 91 passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital after a short illness.  She was born in Erie, PA on December 15, 1926 to the late Peter and Catherine (Talarico)  Guzzo.

         She was a proud and loving Wife, Mother, Grandma, Great Grandma, Sister, Aunt and Friend, who will be greatly missed by all that knew her.  Yolanda graduated from Strong Vincent High School in 1945 and went on to retire from the Erie School District, where she worked as the manager of the Strong Vincent High School cafeteria for nearly 50 years.  She was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Church, Sacred Heart Church and St. Jude Church. 

            She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, William (Su) Suminski. Her sisters, Angeline (DiRienzo) Vacco and Jenny Ferretti, brother Albert Guzzo, brother-in-law’s Louis Ferretti, Frank Ferritta, Thomas DiRienzo and Arnie Vacco and sister–in-law Shirley Guzzo.

            She is survived by her children, Rick (Linda) Suminski of Erie, PA, Gary (Pamela) Suminski of Mentor, OH, David (Connie) Suminski of Hendersonville, NC.  As well as grandchildren, Kearsten (John) Wood, Kylie (Ryan) McKnight, Kevin (Danielle) Suminski, Rick (Deirdre) Suminski, Ryan (Nancy) Suminski and Rhonda Bowen.  Eleven great-grandchildren, Cooper, Connor and Campbell Wood, Brady and Gavin McKnight, Kalina, Derrick, Jackson, Kailynn, Maeve Suminski and Cody Bowen. As well as many nieces and nephews.

       Friends and family will be received on Friday, February 9^th, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Quinn Funeral Home, 728 West 9^th Street, Erie, PA  and are invited to attend Prayer Services there Saturday at 10:30 AM  followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s RC Church, 1617 Walnut Street.    Burial will be private.
