Willie Roberts

Willie Mae (Bill) Roberts age 75, of Erie, passed away Friday, July 11, 2014 at UPMC Hamot.

She was born in Canton, Mississippi on June 19, 1939, a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Lurender Young Roberts.

She was a very active member of Morning Star Baptist Church, where she was on the kitchen Committee and the Missionary Board until she had to step down due to her health.

Willie Mae was a fun loving, free loving person, who loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, cleaning, gardening, going on walks and riding around the peninsula.

She was a great grandmother to all her grandchildren and she raised her oldest grandchild, Omar Terrell Roberts. She also helped raise her nephew Lee Andrew Roberts.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Anderson Roberts, two aunts, Tecora Davis and Lonnie Mae Simpson, a niece, Dorothy Ann Stouall, a great granddaughter, Jacentea Goudy, a great niece Marshall Stouall and a brother in law, Raymond Johnson whom she was best buddies with.

Willie Mae leaves to cherish her memory, four children, Ruben Roberts (Ella), Caroly Roberts-Stouall (Robert), Dean Edward Roberts (Michelle) and Sondra Bernadette Moffatt (DeWitt); three brothers, Walter Roberts, Charlie Roberts and Calvin Jackson; three sisters, Christine Roberts-Cooley, Jeanette Jackson, all of Erie, PA; 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

She was especially close to her niece Shirley Johnson and her nephew Frank Johnson who always called her Bill.

Friends may call at the Morning Star Baptist Church, 327 East 23rd Street, Erie, PA 16503 on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. with Rev Amos Goodwine officiating. Burial to follow in Lakeside Cemetery.
