William H. Young, age 85, of Millcreek, died on Sunday December 13, 2015 at Millcreek Community Hospital. Born in East St. Louis, IL, on May 20, 1930, son of the late William and Dorothy Radell Young.
Mr. Young was a graduate of New Kensington High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1950-1954. He was a graduate of New Kensington High School in 1948. He was a manager of Computer Systems at ALCOA, Hammermill Paper, Allen-Bradley, and most recently at Zurn Corporate Headquarters until his retirement in 1992.
Bill was a very generous and giving man. He was reserved until you got to know him and then he was quite the comic. He was a mentor to many and received an award from Allen-Bradley for being a good boss. He was into everything computer related and his life memories, appointments, and home repair receipts are all saved on the computer. But most of all, he enjoyed going to Presque Isle with the grandkids and great grandkids.
Bill is survived by his wife Gloria J. Young, a daughter Susan Garriga and her husband Michael of Independence, OH, three sons, Scott and Stephen Young, both of Erie, and Robert Young of Cincinnati, OH and one sister Betty Davidson of New Kensington, PA. He is further survived by seven grandchildren: Heather, Matthew (Jill), Nicole, Brooke, Danielle, Kristen, Sean and five great grandchild.
Friends may call at Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 W. 26th St. (at Powell Ave.) on Friday Dec. 18th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm and are invited to attend a service there on Saturday Dec. 19th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to 2nd Harvest Food Bank, 1507 Grimm Dr., Erie, PA 16501 or Emmaus Ministries, 218 E. 11th St., Erie, PA 16503.
