William Townsend

William A. Townsend, Sr., age, 93, of Erie, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2019, at Fairview

Manor.  He was born in Erie, on October 5, 1925, son of the late William and Louise Jones Townsend.

Bill was a graduate of Academy High School and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Machinist, Mate Third Class.

He worked as an automobile salesman for many years at Shades Auto Sales. Bill enjoyed being part of the Jolly Rollers, wood working, fishing, and golf. He was a member of the Lions Club, Greater Erie Eye Bank, Sportsman’s Athletic Club, American Legion and the VFW.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Doris Dyminski Townsend in 2018, an infant son William Townsend, and a brother, Bud Townsend.

Survived by a son, Bill Townsend (Debbie Carr) of Lake City; a grandson, William A. Townsend; and a great granddaughter, Vivian Rose, and a several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 W. 26^th St. (at Powell) on Wednesday, from 11am until the time of service at 1pm. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery, with full Military Honors.
