William Lee Simon, age 74, of McKean passed away peacefully on November 27, 2018.
He was born September 12, 1944 in Chambersburg, PA, son of the late William and Cecyl Hill Simon.
Bill graduated from McDowell High School in 1962 and attended Gannon and Edinboro Universities earning a Master’s degree in Education. He was a teacher in the Erie Schools including Biology at Strong Vincent High School. He later went on to own the Gravely Tractor Shop in McKean with partner Dennis Scheuer and worked for Birkmire Trucking before retiring due to health problems.
Bill’s unique hobbies involved membership in the Model A Club, the Antique Motorcycle Club, A.L.P.C.A and he enjoyed the connections he made along the way.
Bill is survived by son William C. Simon of Gahanna, Ohio, daughter Kristina Sargeant Bennett and husband John, Tallmadge, Ohio, granddaughters Kylie Sargeant of Rochester NY.; grandson Ethan Sargeant and granddaughter Aileena Sargeant. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and special friend and caregiver Barbara Butts.
Friends are invited to call on the family at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave.) on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Erie County Memorial Gardens.
