William Simmons

William E. Simmons, age 75, of Erie passed away Sunday, December 12, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 12, 1946 in Erie the son of the late William and Mabel (Miller) Simmons.

A lifelong resident of Erie, Bill was retired as a Burner from Erie's General Electric and was also a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

His greatest joy was following the activities of his four daughters and his 10 grandchildren whom he loved to teach how to do puzzles and playing card games with them.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by six sisters; Bertha Sutton, Anna Mae Paszkowski, Ruth Crouch, Dorothy McCleary, JoAnne Eliason, and Mary Ann Simmons along with four brothers; Richard Eliason, Robert Eliason, Donald Eliason, and James Simmons.

Bill is survived by his wife, Karen (O'Hara) Simmons and four daughters; Amy Nietupski (Ryan), Andrea Burkhardt (Brian), Ashley Lauria (Frank), and Alecia Olson (Nick), all of Erie. He is the brother of Patricia Lindstrom and Judy Jones and is the proud grandfather of ten. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends are invited to call at the Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St. on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM and are invited to attend Prayer Services there Thursday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Burial will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Erie Shriner's Hospital for Children, 1645 W 8th St, Erie, PA 16505.
