William G. Russell, age 70 of Erie, has taken his last ride on his Harley on the 17th of April 2018. Bill Russell sped towards heaven at top speed, and is now with the Lord. He will see his loved ones who preceded him in death, his parents William and Claire Roman Russell (Nee Roman), his niece Jennifer Park (nee Ball), grandson Brandon Russell, grandson Jamie Vicary, brother John Russell, and sister Claire Russell.
He is survived by sisters AnnMarie Waite, Veronica Ferrara, and Donna Grady (Brian); two daughters, Frankie Bailey (Putney) and Holi Russell, and a son William “BJ” Russell (Mel), of Florida.
Bill was a Vietnam Veteran and served in country 1969-70 with the First Cav. (Airmobile).
Happy to be home and safe, he purchased a Harley, and rode many places. He had numerous friends who are also Harley enthusiasts, and they had lots of fun and happy times as they rode across the countryside. He was employed in the construction and roofing business, and at one time had his own business.
Bill was one of the original founders, and the first secretary of the LEF.
He was a wonderful dad and brother, giving rides on his Harley to his children and grandchildren. He made sure his family was taken care of, and kept his sisters protected from “boys” while in high school, as the sisters can attest to never having a second date. Bill gave much of himself to others, and had a great love for his three children. We will miss him so much, but know he is in the arms of our Lord. Farewell Sarge.
Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10th Street Erie, PA 16502, between the hours of 2-4 and 5-7 pm on Saturday, April 21, 2018. Following the 7 pm calling, we will meet at Scooter’s to celebrate, in memory of our dad, Billy.
