William Roderick

 William Morgan “Bill” Roderick age 85, of Millcreek, passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at his residence, surrounded by family, following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Cleveland, OH on January 8, 1933, son of the late Benjamin A. and Ruth Shorb Roderick.
He grew up in Massillion Ohio and graduated from Massillion High School. Bill received his BA in Hotel and Restaurant Management from Cornell University.
Bill was the Vice President of Oakdale Corporation which owned many area Holiday Inn’s in the 1960’s thru the 1980’s and then in his later years he worked for ECCA.
He was a member of St. Jude Church and served on many Boards in the area. He was especially proud of serving on the Board of the Erie Zoological Society for over 40 years and was passionate in his support of the Zoo.
Bill was a great football player and played in both high school and college. He was a fan of both the Cleveland Indians and Browns, enjoyed gardening and loved Presque Isle, enjoying many walks there. Bill also loved his cats.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Verna Roderick and a brother Benjamin Roderick.
He is survived by four children, Michael Roderick and his wife Michelle of Pittsburgh, Brian Roderick and his wife Diane of Connecticut, Lisa Roderick of Erie, and Megan Mashyna and her husband Matthew of Erie; eight grandchildren, Jamie, Katie, Sarah, Michael, Marie, Rod, Josie and Rowan and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W 26th Street (at Powell Ave.) on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 2801 W. 6th Street on Monday at 9:30 a.m. with Rev. Jason Feigh officiating.  Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Erie Zoological Society 423 West 38th Street Erie, PA 16508.
