William Olesnanik

William Olesnanik age 88, of Girard passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at his residence.

He was born in Girard, PA on December 24, 1933 a son of the late Joseph and Julia Majerik Olesnanik.

Bill attended Girard School District and went on to serve in the United States Army.  He was stationed at Fort Dix, New Jersey in the Army.  He worked many years in maintenance at Johnson Controls and retired in 1999. Bill was kind of a gentle giant.  He did his best to help raise his girls, two grandchildren and others that were close to him.  He was known as papa to many.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Joyce English Olesnanik; a step daughter

Cynthia Moores; four brothers: Joseph, John, Steve and Andy Olesnanik; two sisters: Josephine Travis, and Dorothy Meeder; son in law, Terry Trojanovich, a grandson, a granddaughter and three great grandchildren.

He is survived by two daughters: Sharon Trojanovich of Girard and Susan (Charlie) Steadman of Union City; two grandchildren: Meghan (Matthew) Kremer of Girard; Michael Moores of Girard; a great grandson, Lucas Kremer: brother, Carl (Melva) Olesnanik of Girard: two sisters: Margret Pekilnicky of McKean and Patricia Ball of Fairview; and many nieces and nephews and adopitive children and grandchildern.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street, Girard on Monday from 11am until the time of service at 1pm.  Burial in Girard Cemetery with full military honors.
