William Wayne Nestor, 74, of Erie passed away on January 30, 2024, peacefully at his home.
Wayne was born March 3, 1949 to Mayme (Cooke) and Dr. William Wayne Nestor in Pittsburgh. After attending Mount Lebanon High School, Wayne attended the University of Southern Florida, where he studied psychology. He went on to have a career in service to others, working at Allegheny Valley School and later The Barber Center in Erie since 1982. Wayne retired in 2011 and spent his time watching Pittsburgh sports while avoiding eating vegetables. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan and was passionate about cars. Wayne was a sweet man and had a kind word for everyone.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by three uncles and their wives. He is survived by his partner of 30 years, Olivia Purchase, daughters Laura (Devlin) Rice of Queen Creek, Arizona and Lyndsey (Eric) Nestor of Portland, Oregon, and grandchildren Chloe, Abigail, Natalie and William Rice. He is further survived by Olivia’s four sons, Eric, Greg, Michael, and Robert Purchase and their families whom he loved as his own.
Friends are invited to call on the family Friday, February 2, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Service Inc. Downtown, 602 W. 10th Street, Erie. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow in Albion Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
