William Mims

William Mims “Natáe”, age 66, of Erie, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Saint Vincent Hospital. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, March 11, 1954 to the late Carl Evans, and Peggy Smith. He was raised by his Grandmother, Elizabeth Mims Smith. William moved to Erie where he lived for over 25 years, working in Waste Management for the City of Erie, and at the Avalon Hotel.

William was involved with many groups in his life, including the Brook Haven, PA Drum and Bugle Corps, and the Gannon Theatre Group. He loved music, people, travel, and was a constant contributor to the Upper Room in Erie. He was a former member of Cornerstone Community Liberty Church.

William is survived by his wife, Benny Ruth Hamilton Mims, a daughter, Hurriyhh Davie of Florida, sons, James Oliver, and Allen Oliver, both of Syracuse NY, and his best friend, Richard Robinson of Erie.

He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Elizabeth Mims Smith.

Friends are invited to call on the family at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Service Inc. Downtown, 602 W. 10^th Street, Erie., Tuesday, March 16, 2021 from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at 12:00 Noon, with Rev. Darlene Johnson presiding. All CDC guidelines including masks will be observed.
