William A. Johnson, age 83, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2016, at Hospice of Citrus and The Nature Coast, Lecanto, FL. Formerly of Panama City, FL and Erie, PA.
Bill was born on September 18, 1932 in Clearfield County, PA, the only child of John and Harriet Louise Heitzenrater Johnson. He graduated from East High School in 1951, and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean conflict. He graduated from the University of West Florida in 1977 and was a civil servant working for the United States Government in Florida in various technical fields for 16 years retiring in 1974. Bill later worked for and retired from Moore Research in Erie. He was an avid reader and enjoyed arts and crafts, especially painting and pottery making.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Betty L. Waldinger Johnson; a daughter, Debbie (Ken) Osborne of North East; four sons, Lane Johnson, Kelly Johnson (Tamis) and John Johnson, all of Panama City, FL, and Eric Johnson of Southport, FL; Betty's children, Arnold Waldinger (Leighann) and Mark Waldinger, both of Erie and Michael Waldinger of Waterford, PA; eight grandchildren, Matthew (Mindy), Paul, Christina (David), Beth, Cameron, Victoria, Jessica, and Melody; and eight great-grandchildren, Byron, Alexis, Marshall, Mitchell, Caleb, Adrian, Hayden and Jude.
In accordance with Bill's wishes there will be no visitation or services. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle Street, Erie, PA. Memorials may be made to the Erie County Diabetes Association, 1128 State St., Suite 302, Erie, PA 16501; or to Hospice of Citrus and The Nature Coast, 3350 West Audubon Park Path Lecanto, FL 34461.
