William Paul Jack

William Paul Jack,84, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina passed away after a brief illness on September 6, 2014.

Bill was born in Kittanning, Pennsylvania son of Paul S. Jack and Kathryn Booher Jack on June 12, 1930 and moved to Meadville, Pennsylvania as a child. Bill graduated in 1948 from Meadville High School president of the student body, a track and all-state football star. He graduated from Allegheny College in Accounting and was drafted during the Korean War into the United States Army. He attended Officer’s Candidate School and was selected to be a commanding officer with the paratroopers of the  82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. After serving in Germany he returned to the United States and went to the Pharmacy School at the University of Pittsburgh. After graduation he entered into business with his father at Jack’s Pharmacy on Chestnut Street in Meadville, Pennsylvania.

He was noted for his kindness and compassion towards his customers and these carried throughout his career as a life long pharmacist . His natural talent for making friends made him a favorite at Rite-Aid Pharmacies and Kerr Drugs after moving to the Charleston area in 1992.  His great smile showed what a sweet soul was under that white jacket and his customers followed him from store to store.

His generosity towards his family and friends went far beyond their expectations. And his good humor and wit brought him admirers wherever he went.  His encyclopedic knowledge of football and golf was a pleasure for his family and Saturdays and Sundays were spend watching and routing for his favorites. A true animal lover, Bill always had pet dogs and leaves behind his small lap-mates Puck and Pierre.
