William “Gene” Confer, age 82, of Erie, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020 at LECOM Senior Living.
He was born in Tylersburg, PA on May 29, 1938 a son of the late, Clifford D. and Clara E. Holabaugh Confer.
William attended Tech Memorial High School. He was a Veteran of the U.S. army serving at Staff Sgt. During the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.
He was self-employed as a street vendor operating a stand in front of the Erie County Court House for over 25 years. Prior to that he worked in construction in Illinois and PA and did some auction vending for many years.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Confer.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Reynalda Bacus Confer, two sisters, Delores Dilts of PA and Joyce Horton of TN, two step-sisters, Donna McAfee and Chris Green, both of Erie and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to a graveside service at Washington Cemetery, Frills Corners, PA on Monday, December 28, 2020 at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Deborah Jacobson of Grace Lutheran Church, Clarion, PA officiating. All CDC guidelines will be followed, social distancing and masks are required.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle Street, Erie, PA.
