William Adler

March 8, 1947 — December 26, 2013

     William M. "Bill" Adler, 66, formerly of Shunpike Rd., Erie, died Thurs., Dec. 26, 2013 at his residence in Waterford surrounded by his family.  He was born March 8, 1947 in Erie, son of the late Raymond E. and Dorothy Boettiger Adler.
     A 1966 graduate of Tech Memorial High School, Bill was a veteran having served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army.  He worked for Telephone Electronics Installation Corp. and most recently for GTE, which later became Verizon, retiring as a lineman in 2009 after 34 years of service.  He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Zem Zem Shrine, Zem Zem Arab Patrol, Tyrian-Commonwealth Lodge No. 362 F.& A.M, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Erie, and the Siebenbuerger Club.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
     Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 27 years, Carolyn Jeanne Crabb Adler in 1998.
     Survivors include two sisters, Audrey Boam and husband Douglas and Alice Adler, all of Erie; three nephews, Michael Boam and wife Julie and Brian Boam and wife Candy, all of Millcreek, and Jeffrey Boam and wife Nina of Edinboro; two nieces, Carrie Wilcox and husband Jim of Warren, PA and Amy Crabb and companion Erin Schaefer of Greer, SC; a grandniece; and five grandnephews.  
     Visitation will be held at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle St., Sunday 1 to 5 p.m. including a Masonic Service at 4:30 p.m. conducted by Tyrian-Commonwealth Lodge No. 362 F.& A.M.  A funeral service will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, 2216 Peach St., Monday at Noon with the Rev. Roy P. Washill officiating.  Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the U.S. Army and Erie Crawford County Burial Detail.  Memorials may be made to VNA of Erie Co., 2253 W. Grandview Blvd., Erie, PA 16506; or to St. John's Lutheran Church Youth Ministry, 2216 Peach St., Erie, PA 16502.
