On Tuesday, July 13, 2021, Wilbur “Wil” C. Rosenthal Jr., devoted husband and loving father, passed away at age 75. He died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loved ones after an extended illness.
Born in Erie, PA, he was the eldest of six children of the late Wilbur “Red” Rosenthal Sr. and Eleanor Abramoski Rosenthal.
A graduate of Cathedral Preparatory High School and Gannon University, Wil had a long distinguished career designing locomotive systems for GE Transportation. A member of the Erie Cursillo movement, Wil made Cursillo #129, then went on to serve as a troubadour in many other Cursillos. A guitar player and singer, Wil shared his faith in Christ through his music, often leading congregations in praise at St.
Boniface and Holy Rosary. He dedicated his life to helping others, working for multiple charities, and leading church choirs. Wil was most of all a lover of literature, early American history, music, carpentry, and the Cleveland Browns.
Wil is survived by his wife, Joan C. Rosenthal; his two daughters, Annie Rosenthal (George Silkworth), and Mary Rosenthal; his siblings, Chuck Rosenthal (Gail Wronski), Beverly Jaworski (David Jaworski), Audrey Rosenthal, Pete Rosenthal (Joanna Rosenthal) and Jimmy Rosenthal (Babette Rosenthal), as well as three nieces, and six nephews.
