Wendy Baker Sherman, age 88 of Erie, passed away at her residence, Tuesday, July 16, 2024. Born in Erie, PA, October 30, 1935, daughter of the late Edward & Madalyn Lochner Baker.
Wendy was a 1953 graduate of Academy High School and Simmons School of Nursing in 1958. She married S. Samuel Sherman in October of 1959, and moved to Gastonia, NC, where she worked at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
Wendy and Sam returned to Erie, PA in 1968. She was Past President of the NCJW (National Council of Jewish Women), in Erie, and volunteered for many organizations over the years. She was a founding member of Hospitality House, presently known as SafeNet and several other local agencies.
Wendy was a veracious reader and belonged to a book club for years. She was an avid tennis player until physical difficulties forced her from the courts. She also enjoyed playing Mahjong with a select group of friends and enjoyed rhymes and poetry in her later years. All who spent time with Wendy in recent years will remember her magic wand, along with the fizzled batteries… Ho Ho Ho, off to Heaven I go – Tutalu to all of you!
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Wendy is survived by her children, David and Leslie Sherman Palombi (Ron). Further surviving are her niece and nephews, Tracey, Troy (Jeff), and Tim Sherman, her grandpup Peanut as well as many good friends.
A special thanks to LECOM VNA, Tracie, Laura, Sandy, Alyssa & Dawn and Wendy’s crew team of Stacey, Laurie Cindy & Patty.
