Wayne L. Phillips, age 72, of Girard, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Pleasant Ridge Manor West.
Born in Erie on March 10, 1941, he was the son of the late Lawrence L. and Ruth R. Allen Phillips.
Wayne attended Millcreek School System and graduated from A.T.E.S. Electric School. He was a sandblaster and had worked for Van Air Systems Inc. for over 25 years. Wayne was co-founder of Lake City/Girard Lions Club and was a former mayor of Lake City. He attended the Federated Church; loved fishing, bowling and camping and will fondly be remembered as a prankster. He cherished spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother “Denny”; two sisters: Louise Miller and Priscilla Moyer.
He is survived by his wife of 50 ½ years Linda Arthurs Phillips; two daughters: Tracee Struchen and her husband Timothy of Anthem, AZ and Laura Phillips of Lake City; three grandchildren: Caleb and Caitlin Struchen and Candan Phillips and a sister: Pamula Brown and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East in Girard on Sunday at 2:00 PM until the time of the service at 4:00 PM. with Reverend Robert Kline officiating.
