Walter A. Omniewski
Walter A. Omniewski, age 86, passed away peacefully at the home of his son, Mark Omniewski on Sunday, May 17, 2015. He was born in Erie, PA on June 8, 1928, the son of the late Stanley and Cecilia Falkowski Omniewski.
Walter enlisted in the Marine Corp, and was later drafted in the US Army. He retired from GE after working 40 years as an armature winder. Walter enjoyed woodworking. He was a devout Catholic and a faithful member of St George Catholic Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Kroto, and four brothers, John, Stanley, Joe, and Jerry Omniewski.
Walter is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rose Rotunda Omniewski; two sons, Mark G. Omniewski and his wife Karen, and Jeffrey A. Omniewski and his wife, Cynthia Monocello, all of Erie. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Mark G. (Amber) Omniewski II and Lisa (Justin) Ramsay and two great- grandsons, Quinten and Isaac Omniewski.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Regional Home Health and Hospice for their care and support, especially Kelly, Keisha, Tina, and Alyssa.
Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St. Wednesday from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM and are invited to attend Prayer Services there Thursday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. George Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
