Walter N. “Bud” Hatt, age 82, of Erie, died on Monday January 19, 2015 at Manor Care Services-Erie surrounded by his wife and loving family members. He was born in Mt. Unioin, PA on December 18, 1932, a son of the late Pearl and Walter Hatt.
Bud worked on the farm as a child and then served in the Army during the Korean War as a Sargent First Class. Upon return from the war, he was a grinder for GE for 20 years, and then worked for the Erie School District in various capacities. He was a past member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a warm and wonderful guy with an unusual sense of humor. This kind man was loved by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two children Dianna and Aaron, and sisters and brothers, Ethlyn Cline, Esther Iesue, Ruth Peterson, Albert Hatt and Russell Hatt.
Walter is survived by his wife of 17 years, Barbara; children: Mary Verga, Kim (Jim) Mahoney, Brian Hatt, Patrick Hatt, Palma McClelland, Susan (Donald) McClelland, Tammie (Jeffrey) Smith, David (Eileen) Hatt, Theodore Hatt, Dannette Beebe, Melanie (Larry) Hamm, and Kimberley (Chad) Altimus; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Also survived by brothers and sisters, Fred Salisgiver, Wanda Bennett, Hilda Leone, Norma Eubrock and Walritta Robinson.
Friends are invited to a memorial service on Saturday January 24 at 11am at the Grace Church in Harborcreek, 2420 Cumberland Rd. Erie, PA 16510 with Reverends Hall and Tiernan officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the family in care of Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, 602 W. 10th St., Erie, PA 16502.
