Walter Guzek

Walter F. Guzek, age 92, of Erie, PA, passed away Friday, February 17, 2023 at Manchester Commons. He was born October 2, 1930 in Buffalo, NY to the late Walter and Celia Wisniewski Guzek.

Walter served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was very active in his church, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, and doing volunteer work. Walter enjoyed spending time with his family, building model airplanes, and was an avid fan of Buffalo and Syracuse sports teams.

He is survived by his children, William Guzek (Laurie), Kathleen Rimmer (Thomas), Stephen Guzek (Valerie), and Timothy Guzek (Lois). Walter is further survived by his seven grandchildren, Christopher, Melanie, Nicholas (Alli), Matt, Joseph, Ryan, Kyle, and two sisters in law, Maryann Skokowski, and Maryann Suski.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve Guzek.

Friends are invited to call on the family Wednesday, February 22, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Daniel R. Smolarek Funeral Home, 2510 Union Rd., Cheektowaga. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Queen of Martyrs R.C, Church. Entombment to follow in Saint Stanislaus Cemetery. Local Arrangements entrusted to Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Service Inc. West Ridge.
