Walter H. Evans, of Lake City, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2022 with his sons around him. He was born in Dubois, PA, the only child of the late Thomas and Josephine Holmberg Evans.
He graduated from Dubois High School in 1966. He worked as an inspector at Bucyrus Erie, Snap Tite and Solenoid Solutions Inc. He was very active, he was a member of the West Lake Fire Department and the Sportsmans Club. He was a boy scouts troop leader and also coached his sons in baseball, football and basketball, he even was an umpire. He was active in the deaf community in honor of his parents.
Walter enjoyed NASCAR, Penn State football and loved fishing and hunting. He will be remembered as a caring and devoted father/grandfather, loving husband, and good friend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years M. Barbara Evans and a grandson Aaron J. Evans.
Walter is survived by three sons Robert (Wendy) Evans of MI, David Evans and Michael (Jessica) Evans, both of Erie. He is further survived by seven grandchildren Jonathan (fiancé Misti), Destiny (Jake) Diem, Zachary, Gabrielle, Kelly, Kerry and Matthew; six great-grandchildren; James, Jaylee, Bryanna, Freddie, Felicity, and Grayson and very good friends Mary Lynn Ecker and Karen Proper.
Friends may call on the family at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services West Ridge 3801 W. 26th. Street, Erie, on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 3:00 until the time of the service at 6:00 pm.
