Walter Czerwinski age 82, of Erie, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at the VA Medical Center following a brave battle with leukemia.
He was born in Erie on April 14, 1935, a son of the late Joseph and Anna Branecki Czerwinski.
Walter graduated from East High School where he was a city champion wrestler and then went on to serve in the United States Army.
After serving his country, Walter went on to work in sales and delivery for Coca-Cola for over 35 years where he won many sales awards.
Walter had a deep faith in God. Family was the most important thing to him and loved spending time with them all. He just recently received his 33 year sobriety certificate from AA and was also very involved in the fellowship. He enjoyed cooking for his family, fishing, and gardening and loved going to the horse races.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Stanley and Dr. Edward Czerwinski; and five sisters, Genevieve Rose, Irene Labowski, Sophia Wisniewski, Estelle Dworakowski, and Florence Bablak
Walter is survived by a daughter, Pam Majczyk and her husband Tony of Erie; two sons, Tim Czerwinski, and Todd Czerwinski and his wife Tracy both of Erie; 8 grandchildren, Brittney, Gina, Megan, Cortney, Kate-Lynn, Brandon, Julia, and Justin; a brother, Richard Czerwinski of Erie; his first wife, Angie Czerwinski; three great grandchildren: Molly, Lincoln, and Henry; many nieces and nephews; and a dear friend Millicent Fedorchak.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. and on Monday from 12noon until the time of a prayer service there at 1pm followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Peace Church 2401 W 38th Street, Erie, PA 16506 at 1:30pm. Burial to follow in Calvary cemetery with full Military Honors.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Erie VA Medical Center Hospice for their love, care, and compassion over the last 11 months.
