Vivian Lemmon

February 3, 1920 — April 6, 2016

Vivian Owens Lemmon, age 96, of Erie, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Manchester Commons. She was born in Warren, PA on February 3, 1920, daughter of the late Leo and Ruth (Patterson) Owens.

Vivian was a 1938 graduate of Kittaning High School. She was employed in retail sales by Eckerd Drug Store and G.C. Murphy’s at the West Erie Plaza. She retired in the early 1980's from the Erie School District, where she worked in food services.

Vivian was a Charter Member and Deaconess of the Delaware Avenue Baptist Church. She was a wonderful seamstress and always made clothing and afghans for family and friends. Vivian had many friends and fond memories from the 15 years she lived at St. Joseph Apartments.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Sidney Lemmon, her daughter, Kathleen Diane Lemmon and her son, Daniel S. Lemmon. Vivian was the eldest child and last surviving of her five siblings.

Vivian is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Judy (John) Marini of Erie, PA and Mrs. Sue (Ken) Darr of Chicago, IL; daughter in law, Carol Ann Hunter Lemmon of Erie, PA; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West Tenth Street, Erie, PA 16502 on Friday, April 8, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and for a funeral service on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 11:00AM, with Pastor David Leninsky officiating. Burial immediately following at Lakeside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Delaware Avenue Baptist Church, 822 Delaware Avenue, Erie, PA 16505.
