Virginia Griffiths

Virginia E. Griffiths, 92, of Erie and formerly of Millcreek and Girard, passed away Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Village of Luther Square.

She was born in Erie, on March 9, 1924, the daughter of the late Howard R. Wellington, Sr. and Julia Tucker Wellington.

She was a graduate of Academy High School in 1942.

She had worked as a Secretary for the District Manager of Atlantic Richfield Co. for 28 years and later as a Secretary at Erie Strayer Co.

She was a former member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club of Erie.

She was interested in music and had a profound love of dogs and animals in general.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ronald W. Griffiths, in 1980, a brother Howard R. Wellington, Jr., who was killed in action in World War, II and a sister Betty Jane Petry.

She is survived by a nephew Jack Reese-Petry, of San Antonio, TX; a niece Mary Ann Bugenhagen, of Fairview. Further survived by many great nieces and great nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th St. on Wednesday from 10am until the time of service at 11 a.m.

Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
