Virgil Tharp

Virgil Lee Tharp, age 64, of Waterford, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at the Cleveland Clinic.

He was born on August 19, 1959, in Erie, to the late Virgil and Julia Patrick Tharp.

Virgil attended Fort LeBoeuf High School. He worked as a Heavy Equipment/Inspection Mechanic at Mayer Brothers with IUOE Local 66 until retirement. He enjoyed old cars, especially his ‘69 El Camino. Virgil enjoyed going to his hunting camp, but most of all he loved being with family and friends. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph Tharp and Hershell Clemons and wife, Geraldine.

He will be forever missed by his wife, Susan Laird Tharp of 39 years; his son, Bradley Tharp (Kaylla); daughter, Aimee Huston; grandchildren, Luke, Leah, Logan, Landen, Ethan and Barron; his sister, Debbie Mineo (John); and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the Proudest Husband, Father, and Pap!

Calling hours will be held at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Downtown, 602 W. 10th St., on Monday, March 13, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Private burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
