Valerie Smith

Valerie Ann (Kehoe) Smith, age 54, of Girard, transitioned to glory on Friday June 10, 2016 after battling stage 4 breast cancer for over 2 ½ years.

She was born in Erie on September 8, 1961, a daughter of Constance May Morgan, and her step father Ron Morgan of Erie.

Valerie graduated from Northwestern High School in 1979 and Edinboro University in 1984 with a B.A. Degree in Speech Communication and Business. She was a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative for Ventiv Health and various companies. Valerie was also a Manager of Home Health with Heyl’s and American Home Patient.

She was united in marriage to David William Smith 31 years ago, two children were born from this union. She loved being with her family and friends and watching “Say Yes to the Dress” and cooking reality TV shows. Her hobbies were scrap booking, enjoying nature and flowers. She was proud to be a helicopter mom. She loved to dance and listen to music. Val loved to spend time with her children. She loved being with her family and going to Friday night football games and being with her girls. She always put others first, even before her own needs.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Sean Kehoe.

In addition to her mother and step father, she is survived by her husband, David W. Smith, children, Forrest and Miranda Smith, both of Girard; her siblings, David R. Kehoe III and his wife Robin of MD, Deborah Kreider and her husband Marty of Girard, and Norman Kehoe and his girlfriend, Jill Zekowski; she is further survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Valerie was grateful for the extended care given by her husband, mother, children, sister, aunts and friends. Special thanks to her mother for being her cancer buddy.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. East, Girard on Tuesday from 2-4pm and 6pm until the time of the service at 8pm.
