Urbano Hernandez

Urbano Torres Hernandez, age 78, of Erie, passed away peacefully at home on January 4, 2017.

Born in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico on April 22, 1938, a son of the late Jose Torres and Ramona Hernandez.

Urbano was a former member of Saint Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church and worked as a crane operator for 42 years at York Foundry, where he retired from in 2002.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Gloria, Ida and David Torres.

Urbano is survived by three daughters, Kimberly and Elena Torres and Venice Young, three sons, James, David and Jason Torres, two step children, Michela Nulph and Dennis VanDusen, Jr., twenty two grandchildren and one great grandchild. Also surviving are his siblings Jorge, Noel, Maria (Mirtha) and Cereida Torres as well as many nieces, nephews.

Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 602 West 10th street on Sunday, January 8th from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. until the time of service at 7 p.m. with Father Jason Feigh presiding. A graveside service will be held at Lakeside Cemetery on Monday, January 9th at 11 a.m.
