Twila L. Hewitt Noyes, age 98, passed away Friday, September 12, 2014, at Sarah Reed Senior Living Center. She was born in Erie on January 25, 1916, a daughter of the late Lelah Brown Hewitt and Claude Hewitt.
Twila graduated from Strong Vincent High School Class of “35” and was a graduate of Erie Commercial College where she was a business major.
She was a secretary in the Transportation Division of G.E. for eleven years and had also worked for the North East Breeze.
She was a former member of Westminster Garden Club, the Siebenbuerger Ladies Auxiliary, and Young at Heart at St. John’s Lutheran Church, and enjoyed attending gatherings at the Salvation Army.
She loved reading, playing cards, dancing, traveling and watching “Jeopardy”.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband J. Boyd Noyes and a great-aunt who was more like a sister Marguerite Dunasky.
She is survived by a daughter, Lesley Redmond and her husband Terry; two granddaughters, Noelle Mattix (James) and Jennifer Uplinger (Daniel), all of Erie; a grandson, Andrew Redmond (Jennifer) of Hummelstown, PA; seven great-grandchildren, Cameron Mattix and Jacob, Cillian, and Madison Wood, all of Erie, and Carey, Emma, and Keegan Redmond, all of Hummelstown, PA; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank everyone at Sarah Reed for all their kindness over the many years Twila resided there.
Friends may call at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle St., Tuesday from 2 to 6 p.m. with Sharing of Memories taking place at 6 p.m. Private burial will be at West Union Cemetery, Union City, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society, P.O. Box 3930, Erie, PA 16508; or to The A.N.N.A. Shelter, 1555 E. 10th St., Erie, PA 16511.
