Timothy P. “Tim” Roche age 62, of Millcreek, passed away on Monday February 19, 2017 at UPMC Hamot.
He was born in Erie on December 19, 1955, a son of Bernadette Metzner Roche and the late Dr. Robert J. Roche.
He attended Mt. Calvary Grade School, St. John Kanty Prep and Tech Memorial High School.
Tim was a member of St. Julia Church and South Erie Turners.
Music and his family was his life. He was a wonderful father and for many years “Mr. Mom” staying at home to care for his children. He played, rebuilt, and customized many Hammond organs in the area. He was a very talented and gifted musician who played in several bands including: Tight Ends, The Classmates, Ground Zero, Masque, and Joe Rockhead who opened for Kansas when they played at Celebrate Erie in 2011.
He is preceded in death by his father Dr. Robert Roche and his first wife Brenda Byerly who was instrumental in introducing Tim to Susan during her battle with leukemia.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Susan Roche; three children, Patrick (Devon) Roche of Jamestown, NY, Diana Roche of Meadville and Robert Roche of Los Angeles; two grandchildren, Leo and Michael Roche; three sisters, Tammy Gandolfo (Jim), Cathy Parker (Dave) and Maripat Neubert (George); and a brother, Robert (Jeralinn) Roche. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm and are invited to a Prayer Service there on Saturday at 9:15, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Julia Church at 10:00 am.
Burial will be private at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the local NW PA Chapter of the Oncology Nursing Society c/o Kathy Coleman 402 Parkway Drive Erie, PA 16511 for educating cancer nurses and improving the quality of cancer care, and Camp Notre Dame 400 West Eaton Road Fairview PA 16415 for the Christian enrichment of the lives of school age children in our area.
The family would like to especially thank D.rs David Hutzel, Jan Rothman and Peter Lund for their dedication and professional expertise. In addition, Susan Marshall-Erven, CRNP, physicians and nurses at St Vincent Hospital, UPMC Hamot, and the entire dedicated staff of The Regional Cancer Center.
