Timothy Rocco

January 10, 1957 — August 14, 2016

Timothy A. Rocco, age 59, of McKean, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016 following a brief and courageous battle with brain cancer. He was at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in McKean on January 10, 1957, a son of Virginia Donahue Rocco and the late Frank Rocco.

Tim graduated from General McLane High School in 1974. He had worked at Valu King and Giant Eagle in Girard as a meat cutter, but his true passion was being an auctioneer.

He began his own company, Rocco’s Auctions and Appraisals, in 1986. He belonged to the National & PA Auctioneer Associations and the Certified Appraisers Guild of America (CAGA). He was honored as a People’s Choice Award Auctioneer for many years, including 2015, and as a PA State Champion Auctioneer in 2006. Tim will be remembered for providing good service and always doing a great job. Not only was auctioneering what he truly loved, but he made it entertaining. He appreciated and enjoyed the many people he met and all of those who regularly attended his auctions.

He was a member of the Lake Erie Lodge #347 F.&A.M. in Girard, the Scottish Rite Bodies-Valley of Erie and the Zem Zem Temple Shrine. Tim served for many years on the McKean Township Planning Commission.

Most important to Tim were his wife, his sons, the rest of his family and the auction business he loved. He enjoyed spending time in the barn and on the family farm where he still resided.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marcia Ann Danser.

Along with his mother, Tim is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Denise Pettigrew Rocco; two sons: Anthony and Alexander Rocco; and his brother, Richard Brogdon and his wife Victoria. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Alice Abbott, and his brothers-in-law;

Dhurwood, Duane, Dean and Darian Pettigrew and his nieces and nephews.

Tim’s family would like to thank Dr. Daniel Muccio, who was Tim’s hero.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. East Girard on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and are invited to the service there on Thursday at 10 am conducted by Rev. Gene Kennett and Tim’s brother Deacon Richard Brogdon. Lake Erie Lodge will hold a Masonic service at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7pm.

Because Tim supported many organizations, memorials in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
