Thomas Sykes

Thomas George Sykes, age 77, of Fairview, PA died on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Erie, PA after a brief illness.

He was born in Canonsburg, PA on August 13, 1937, to the late James and Virginia (Malicki) Sykes.

Tom was a graduate of Merchantville High School in NJ and went on to serve in the United States Army. Tom loved sports and played football, basketball and baseball in high school. He worked for many years in sales and retail. But, the highlight of his life was spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by a son, James Sykes and his wife Christina of Boston, MA; three daughters: Elizabeth Askins and her husband Ernie of Erie, PA; Mary Edwards of Lithia, FL; Krista Gagliardi and her husband James of Sewell, NJ and nine grandchildren: Andrew, James, Alexandra, Madelyne, Nicholas, Lindsay, Simone, Anthony and Gianna.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street, (at Powell Avenue,) on Tuesday from 3pm until the time of prayer service at 7pm. Burial will be on Thursday in Bethel Memorial Park, Pennsauken, NJ.
