Thomas Jefferson Myers, Sr.

Thomas Jefferson Myers Sr. age 94 of Erie, transitioned from this world to his heavenly reward on Friday, July 13, 2018. He was born in Aliquippa, Pa. on June 27, 1924 in a family of eleven siblings.  Son of the late Bishop Jefferson Davis and Rosabelle Laster Myers.  He’s a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Church of God in Christ where his dad was the first Pastor.  He was a 29th District Officer with the American Legion, a member of the 40 and 8; an early Commander of the Barney/Smith American Legion Post 700; an original member of Gem City Elks #328; an active member of the NAACP, particularly during his dad and son’s Presidency.  He always encouraged his children to serve others.  Even as a young boy he was a protector and a provider who believed in entrepreneurship. Co-owner of the original Soul Kitchen on 18th and Parade Street.  He and his wife, Annie were operators of numerous restaurant kitchens. They were directors and independent distributors with the Diamite Corporation.  His love for fishing was unmatched, as well, as his love for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cleveland Cavaliers.  He was well known for his dynamic barbeque ribs soaked in sauce that was out of this world.  Our dad was a humorous guy, yet, a quiet man of faith, conviction and commitment to his family.  A man who traveled the world in the South Pacific, India, and South Africa while serving his country in World War II.  He has received several awards and recognitions for his service and accomplishments.

He was preceded in death by brothers Cullen & Eddie; Sisters Lillian Dabney and Othello Johnson.
