Thomas Karle

Thomas E. "Tom" Karle, age 80, of Erie, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 5, 2013 at St. Vincent Health Center surrounded by his family.

He was born in Erie on March 20, 1932 son of the late George H. and Frances Karle.

Tom was a proud graduate of Cathedral Preparatory School. He attended Gannon College and went on to serve in the United States Navy during the Korean War.

Tom was involved in the Retail clothing business for 60 years, and was the owner of Tom Karle & Son Clothiers for the past 33 years.

He will be remembered for his infectious enthusiasm and his eager willingness to help those in need.

During his life's journey, he made countless friends whose life he enriched and who, in turn, enriched his, including from his fellowship with Bill W.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas M. Karle and a brother, Donald Karle.

He is survived by his wife Constance M. Karle, with whom he would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this July, his son, Attorney Gregory A. Karle (Elaine) of Erie, five daughters; Julie Guillebeau (Joe) of Wilmington, DE; Paula Lyons (George) of Erie; Christine Karle of Erie; Erin Tangredi (Bob) of Chicago, IL; and Gretchen Lipski (Mark) of Princeton, NJ; eleven grandchildren: Matthew, Michael, Andrew and Robert Karle, Tom and Grace Guillebeau, Karle, Connie and Mark Lyons and Bobby and Michael Tangredi; a brother, Doctor John Karle MD(Adele) of Naples, FL and many nieces and nephews.

Friend may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Monday from 7 to 9 pm and Tuesday from 2 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm, and are invited to attend a prayer service there on Wednesday at 8:45 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jude Church 2801 W. 6th Street Erie, Pa 16505 at 9:30 am with Rev. John Detisch Celebrant.

Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
