Thomas A. DiRienzo, Sr., age 90, of Erie, passed away on Sunday, April 24 at Pleasant Ridge Manor. He was born in Erie on August 16, 1931, a son of the late Thomas & Angela Guzzo DiRienzo.
He was a graduate of Cathedral Prep and worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for 33 years. He was a proud member of the US Army serving in the Korean War. Thomas was a life member of St. Paul’s Holy Name Society, CYS Club, and Postal Union Stewart for Erie Union #284. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling, fishing and working in his vegetable garden.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Joan DiNicola.
Thomas is survived by his wife Joan Paszko DiRienzo whom he married in 1960, and his children: Susan Prince (Brad), Thomas DiRienzo, JR. (Susan), John DiRienzo (Kim) all of Erie, and Kathleen Goulione (Chris) of Harborcreek; and grandchildren: Kristina Kiddo (Nicholas), Alyssa Anthony (Mike), Heather Baker, Douglas Baker, Katelyn Goulione, Christian Goulione, John Jr. DiRienzo, Emilia DiRienzo, and Thomas W. DiRienzo; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on the family Monday, May 2 at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services at West Ridge 3801 West 26th St. Erie, PA 16506 from 3 – 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Peace, 2401 West 38th St. Erie, PA 16506 on Tuesday, May 3, at 10:00 am with Fr. Mark Hoffman officiating.
Interment will be in Trinity Cemetery.
