Theresa "Mastrey" Mastrostefano

Theresa “Mastrey” Mastrostefano, 86, of Erie, died peacefully in her home on Monday, March 17th, 2025.

She was born on August 6, 1938, in Erie, daughter of the late Frank and Anna Altadonna Palilla.

She graduated from Strong Vincent High School in 1956. Her life’s work included a career in banking, plus several years managing Fergie’s Restaurant & Catering offices.

Theresa was passionate about her family, cooking and baking. The sauce was on the stove every Sunday morning and dozens of cookies were always prepared for special occasions.

She faced many health challenges in her life and inspired us with her spirit and determination to overcome them.

Theresa was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 41 years, Donald Mastrostefano, and by 2 brothers, John and Salvatore Palilla and 2 sisters, Vicki and Jenny McCarthy.

She is survived by a daughter, Ann Helgerman and her husband, Eric, of Wexford; two sons: Donald Mastrey, and Vincent Mastrey and his wife, Theresa, all of Erie; 5 grandsons who she treasured: Thomas, Michael, and Joseph Helgerman, and Donald and Gianni Mastrostefano, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no visitation. Burial will be private. Arrangements by the Burton Quinn-Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge, 3801 W. 26th St.
