Thelma Jean (Miller) Morgan, age 58, of Union City passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on November 19, 1954 in Union City, she was the daughter of the late Clifford Eugene and Ethel Elizabeth (Blystone) Miller, SR.

Thelma was a 1972 graduate of Union City High School and attended University of Pittsburgh at Titusville. She worked for Heist Furniture as an in-home decorating consultant for many years and owned and operated Nelson’s Jewelers both in Titusville.

“Maggie” was a past President of the Titusville Business and Professional Women’s Club, member of the Union City Moose Lodge 882 since 1982, and current member of the Bloomfield Twp. Agriculture Security Board.

Thelma was a UCMA Board Chairman and the first female Bloomfield Twp Supervisor.

She was co-owner with her husband, of the Thomas E. Morgan Funeral Home which served the Union City community for over 35 years; Birchwood Whitetail Deer Farm where they raised and bred whitetail deer and she pioneered a website for deer farmers, www.deerfarmer.com, which was an internet consulting site for whitetail deer farmers and veterinarians, authored “Why Whitetails?” and “Bottle Rearing Fawns” that was published in several deer farming trade magazines; Morgan’s Personal Care Home and Birchwood Stables. She did the bed and barn respite travel for equine transporters and travelers. She also received perfect attendance, 8 years consecutively, at the NWPaVMA Symposiums held annually.

She was a member of St. Teresa’s of Avila Catholic Church and was a member of the Erie Diocese Cursillista’s.

Her heart belonged to raising deer, horses and cows. She loved to train and ride horses and was a big PBR fan. She enjoyed sewing and being in the public service for the community.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas E. Morgan; a daughter, Heather Brown and her husband Curt of Centerville; a son, Emmet McGuire and his wife Michelle of Titusville; son, Sean Morgan of Erie; grandchildren, Maggie, Annalise and Alex McGuire, Curtis, Carrie and Kyler Brown; a brother, Clifford Miller, Jr. of Union City, many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. She is also survived by her very special God-Parents, Bill and Judy Flynn and the Lee family.

Friends may call at St. Teresa’s of Avila, 9 Third Ave, Union City on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until the time of the funeral liturgy at 6 p.m. with Fr. Thomas Suppa officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
