Thelma Louise “Doc” McClay, age 86 of Fairview, passed away peacefully, Sunday, May 22, 2016 at her residence.
She was born in Jackson, KY on September 22, 1929, a daughter of the late Wilson and Alice Fox Oakes.
Thelma graduated from Academy High School, was a housewife, a hairdresser, and worked as a cashier at the famous Green Shingle Truck Stop store.
She was a member of the New Life Community Church in Fairview and enjoyed sewing, upholstery, bowling, movies and crafting.
In addition to her parents, Thelma is preceded in death by her husband Paul R. McClay and six brothers.
Thelma is survived by her children; four sons: Jeff McClay and his wife Denise of Erie, Mark McClay and his wife Julie of Fairview, Darin McClay and his wife Vickie of Fairview, Chris McClay of Lake City; a daughter, Lisa McClay-Greene of NC; as well as several grandchildren; two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is further survived by a few brothers and sisters from the Oakes family.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. Girard on Friday from 4-7 pm are invited to attend a service there on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.
