Terry Shaffer

Terry Shaffer, age 81, of Erie, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the Sarah A. Reed Retirement Center.

He was born on May 17, 1937, a son of the late Frederick Shaffer Sr. and Alice Griffen.

Terry graduated from Strong Vincent High School, class of 1956, before beginning work as a mixer for many years at Haysite Plastics. He enjoyed playing softball, bowling, fishing, and horseshoes. Terry was a lifelong member of the Zukor Club in Erie, and enjoyed the Pittsburgh Steelers above all.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Frederick Shaffer, Jr.

Terry is survived by his wife, Judith Baer Shaffer; his children, Julie Forquer (Charles), and Laura Carnes (Dennis). He is further survived by his grandchildren, Danielle Carnes, Amanda Bliley (Doug), Mallory Olmstead, Christa Forquer, and Colleen Forquer. Terry is survived by his great grandchildren, Camden, Blaik, Dominique, Lillian, Collin, Alida, and Elena, as well as his siblings, Penny Michalski and E. Samuel Shaffer.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Sarah Reed, and the Visiting Nurses Association of Erie, for their kindness and compassion.

Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 602 W.  10^th Street, Erie, Thursday, March 7th, from 2-4 p.m., and 6-8 p.m., and are invited to a funeral service there on Friday, March 8^th at 11 a.m., with Military Honors to follow. Burial will be at Erie County Memorial Gardens.
