Terrol (Missip/Sip) Eugene Vaughn of East Avenue departed this life on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at age 62. Terrol came to Erie, PA from St. Louis, IL in 1966 at the age of 14. He graduated from East High School and in 1971 he served in the United States Army. After being honorably discharged he began working at WQLN/WERG as a radio host called “The Jazzman”. In 1987, while working for Cablevision, Terrol started his own business, along with his wife Denise, appropriately named TAD (Terrol and Denise) Video. When TAD Video closed its doors in 2002, Terrol began working for EMTA where he would eventually retire.
Terrol is survived by his wife of 36 years Denise Vaughn; 5 children: Brian S. Ellis and his wife Tanesha, Marcie D. Garcia, Terra D. Whitfield and her husband Darmel, Brandi M. Vaughn and her husband Willie, and Trey D. Vaughn; 10 grandchildren; his brother Joseph Spears and his wife Ella; 3 immediate cousins: Latreeca Bardwell, Martinee Bardwell and Rosalyn Bardwell; and a host of other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother Mary Louise Vaughn and his brother Anthony L. Vaughn.
Terrol loved people, good conversations, and jokes. He loved reading, movies, golfing with his buddies, and he was a true Pittsburgh Steelers Fan!! Terrol had an over the top humor and could make anyone laugh. He was an awesome father and husband who truly had a heart of gold. He will forever be missed.
Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 602 West Tenth Street, Erie, Pa. 16502 on Monday from 2:00 pm till 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm till 9:00 pm and are invited to services there on Tuesday at 10:00 am with Dr. Parris Baker officiating. Burial in Erie Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Erie, 1515 East Lake Road, Erie, Pa. 16511.
