Ted Rzodkiewicz

Ted Paul “Peggy” Rzodkiewicz, age 80, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2022 at his home. He was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on July 22, 1942, son of Theodore and Eleanor Rzodkiewicz.

Ted was a graduate of Tech Memorial High School, where he excelled as an athlete, participating in football, basketball, and track & field. Ted held a pole vaulting record at Tech High School that persisted for decades. He played fastpitch softball for multiple teams, including Carpetowne and R.M. Kerner, where he was employed for 42 years. In 2002, he was chosen by the Erie Times News as the best catcher for the all-star fastpitch softball team (1960 to 2002) and was described as a “power hitter” who was “impeccable behind the plate.”
Ted enjoyed spending time at his hunting camp, playing golf, and restoring antique and muscle cars.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sharon, and their two daughters: Tina Swope and her husband, Dan, of Erie, and Tami Micsky and her husband, Gregg of Greenville, PA and a son, Edward Sheridan, of Erie. He was the proud grandfather of seven: Leann and Riley Petrucelli, Ethan and Jonathan Micsky, and Grace, Sam, and Ellie Swope.

He is also survived by three sisters, Angela Leasure (Bob), Gloria Fuller, and Susan Aho (Mo) and much loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He had a devoted group of friends Al Eliason, Bill Kuhn, Dave Sznajder, and Bugsy Brei and was preceded in death by his dear friend, Kenny Weed.

Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services, West Ridge 3801 W. 26th St., on Wednesday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm and are invited to a service there on Thursday at 11:00 am.
