Ted H. Mickel Jr., age 80, of Erie, died on Monday November 5, 2018 at home. He was born on May 20, 1938 in Welch, WV, a son of the late Ted H. Mickel and Willie Mae Dickerson-Mickel.
Ted served in the US Army and then worked in the construction industry, primarily dry walling, all of his life. He was a very charismatic person and people loved being around him. He was a member of the American Legion Post 700. He also enjoyed watching Muhammad Ali’s boxing matches.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Mae Mickel, a son Timothy Mickel, a daughter Annastasia Mickel and several siblings: Jessie Mae Williams, Patricia Ann “Polly”, Peter, Ronald, Darrel and Tina Mickel.
Ted is survived by his children: Terry (Kelsey) Crenshaw, Deborah (George) Arrington, Ted Mickel III, Felicia (Curtis) Bussey, Edmund (Crystal) Mickel, Zephrin, Rob, Curtis, Jacinda, Chris, Ted, Monique and Ricky. He is further survived by his siblings: Geraldine Mickel, William Mickel, Howard Mickel, Steve (Karen) Mickel, Ina Chandler, and Sheila (Edward) Parker; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many beloved friends.
Friends are invited to call on the family on Friday November 16th from 10:30am until the time of the service at 12:30pm at Burton Wintergreen Funeral Home, 2532 Norcross Rd. (across from Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery). Burial will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery with full military honors.
