Tanzania K. Wiley

Tanzania K. “Bopha” Wiley, age 31, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 29, 2024, at her residence. 

She was born on March 20, 1993, in Warren, Michigan, the daughter of Aisha and her husband, Antonio Stapp and Jermaine Hunter, of Jackson, Michigan.

Tanzania graduated summa cum laude from Collegiate Academy. She went on to further her education as a graduate of IUP University with a master’s degree in psychology. She was on the Dean's list the entire time in college. Tan loved to read, dress, cook, dance, do hair and shop. She loved spending time with her nephew, Denaro or "Billy” as she called him. 

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfathers, Frank Wiley and Wesley C. Thomas; her paternal grandmother, Shirley Hunter and her favorite uncle, David "Beam" Coates.

In addition to her parents, Tan leaves behind to cherish her in memory, grandmother, Patricia Thomas, of Erie; grandfather, Enlo O. Terry, of Detroit, MI; one sister, Tamara E. Baker, of Erie; two brothers, Desmond Jackson, of Texas and James W. Stapp, of Erie; two nephews, Denaro Russell, of Erie and Braylon Jackson, of Texas; niece, Amira Stapp, of Erie; six aunts, Kathryn Wiley, Louise Wiley and Carla "Auntie Car wash" Adams, all of Erie, Shelia (Wayne) Smith, of Maple Heights, OH, Tiffany Hunter and Lowanda Hunter, both of Detroit; four uncles, Frank (Simone) Wiley, of Streetsboro, OH, Frank L. Wiley, Johnny Hunter and Paul Hunter, all of Detroit; her godparents, Rasheda Bey-Adams, of Clayton, NC, Alston Hunter, of Detroit and Leroy Kimbro, of Erie. She is further survived by her best friend, Alexis Adams and her soulmate, Mario Sanders.
