Sylvia Love Thurston, age 89, of Erie, passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at ManorCare Health Services.
She was born in Bloomington, Illinois on July 9, 1928, a daughter of the late Noble and Mayme Battles Thomas.
Sylvia graduated from East High School, class of 1946. She worked in the administrative department for General Electric Co. for 42 years. Sylvia was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, St. Mary’s Church, and St. Stanislaus Church. She was a darn good mother, a devoted Catholic, and was kind to all. Her most cherished experience was having an audience with the Pope.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter Love, second husband, Harvie Thurston, and sons, Walter Love, Jr. and Michael Love.
Survivors include her daughter, Jacqueline Love and her husband, James Becker of Erie, grandchildren, Amber Love, Walter Love, and Michael Patterson, daughter-in-law, Linda Love, her sister, Martha Robinson, and brother, Tony Thomas, a nephew, and several nieces, including Donna Long, whom she helped raise.
Sylvia’s family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the staff of ManorCare Health Services for the support and care of Sylvia in her time of need.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10th Street on Friday, June 8th from 2 to 4 pm, and 6 to 8 pm, and are invited to a funeral mass at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 516 East 13th Street on Saturday, June 9th at 10 am with Monsignor Bernard Urbaniak presiding.
