Sylvia Nunamaker

Sylvia (Balsiger) Nunamaker, age 79 of Erie, passed away unexpectedly Monday, September 30, 2024 at UPMC Hamot Hospital. She was born in Santa Anna, California September 26, 1945 to the late Madeline (Gallo) Lazzini and Roy Lazzini. 

Sylvia loved to play the lottery and go to the casino; she loved baking cookies and doing crafts and ceramics. She was a lifetime Auxiliary Member of VFW 470 and will be missed by all who knew her. Spending time with her family and grandchildren was a favorite activity, along with bowling and playing pool with her late husband, Martin. Sylvia loved that she shared a birthday with her granddaughter. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Martin, a son Roy Balsiger, and a daughter Tarisa Noll, a sister Ruth Ardnt. 

She is survived by her children, Dale Balsiger, Pamela Plyler (Tim), Paula Ries (Daniel), Philip Balsiger (Carolyn Roos), and Jeremy Balsiger. Sylvia is further survived by 20 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren, by her sister Tina Maynard, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

The family would like to thank the staff at UPMC Hamot for their above and beyond care. 

A graveside funeral service will take place Saturday, October 5, 2024 in Calvary Cemetery, section 1 at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements are entrusted to Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Downtown, 602 W. 10th Street, Erie.
