Suzanne E. Britton passed away from this life to eternal life on Sunday, Dec 18, 2016 in the home she enjoyed at Springhill.
She was born on December 6, 1927 and had just celebrated her 89th birthday at the Kahkwa Club, where she was a lifetime member and enjoyed many delightful memories.
As a lifelong resident of Erie, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant. She was also a member of the Erie Club. She was formerly active in the Lawyers wives Auxiliary.
As President of the Britton Family Foundation, She was able to express her affection and support for the Erie, Sanibel and Chautauqua communities. Always an avid reader, she appreciated good literature and had an ever expanding collection of books, many which were special additions. Suzanne had a great love for the world of nature, and animals. She had a great sense of humor that she shared with everyone.
Mother enjoyed for many years, her and dad’s winter home on Sanibel Island and spending time with her cousin, Milton Hill and his wife Janet, with whom she shared a special closeness. She especially loved it when her children and grandchildren came to visit Sanibel and share in her love for the beach and swimming. Her love of swimming began at Erie’s peninsula during her happy, carefree teenage summers there.
In addition to Sanibel, mom enjoyed spending time with her family at Chautauqua Institute, where she and dad for years, had a cozy condo at the St. Elmo. Two of her other favorite destinations were Maine and New Hampshire. But no matter where she was, her greatest joy was spending time with her family whenever she could, including the four legged ones.
In addition to her parents, Suzanne was preceded in death by her husband Attorney John E. Britton, an infant daughter, Kathleen Suzanne Britton, and a sister, Sallie E. Krimmel.
She is survived by a daughter, Judy B. Bonanno and her husband Robert of Sunapee, New Hampshire; a son, John W. Britton and his wife Meg of Fairview, four grandchildren, Catherine S. Bonanno of Boca Raton, FL, Sarah B. Bates and her husband Quantres of Gallatin, TN, Jeffery and Andrew Britton of Fairview; two great grandchildren, Trey A. and Alyssa A. Bates; two very dear nieces, Barbara and Sondra Krimmel of Pittsburgh, PA; and two nephews, Frank B. Krimmel and his wife Elizabeth of Bernardsville, NJ and William E. Krimmel of Erie, Pa.
