Susan A. Thompson, age 71, of Erie, passed away on April 17, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her family, following a brief illness.
She was born on October 3, 1941 in Erie, PA daughter of Richard E. and Jean Rose Luber.
Susan graduated from Strong Vincent High School and was a graduate of Saint Vincent School of Nursing. She was employed at Saint Vincent Health Center as an RN.
Susan loved Erie and Lake Erie especially in the summer time. She spent over 40 summers enjoying the beach at Dohler's Cottages in North East with many friends and her family. Presque Isle was also a favorite spot that she spent much time enjoying. Susan also had a passion for gardening, antiques, the tall ships and collecting beach glass.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son Edward in 2002.
Survivors include her husband Albert; a daughter Robin Dougan of Harrison, AR; a son Mark Thompson of Pittsburgh and three grandchildren William Thompson, Michael Dougan, and Mallory DiSalvo. She is also survived by a sister Mary Anne Morris of WI and many nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by her beloved dog Molly.
Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 602 West 10th Street Erie, PA 16502 on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and are invited to the service there on Monday at 1p.m. with Rev. Harry Johns III officiating. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
