Susan Glover

Susan Jones Glover, age 61, of Erie, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Saint Vincent Health Center after a battle with a long term illness.

She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 28, 1953 a daughter of the late Alexander Frank and Inell Hardy Jones.

Susan graduated from East High School in 1972. She was pursuing her Degree in Criminal Justice and Social Work at Edinboro University. Susan was the Founder of the Exceptional Youth Community and Educational Center (EYCEC). She was a former employee of the Erie School District and Edinboro University retiring in 2011.

She was a Former First Lady and member of True Rock of Holiness of Jesus Christ Church. Prior to helping co-found True Rock of Holiness of Jesus Christ Church, she was an active member and served for 27 years in various capacities including Superintendent of Sunday School, V.P. of the Youth, and served on the usher board at True Holiness Church of Jesus Christ Church under former Pastor the late Elder George Simmons, Sr. She was also in the choir, was a musician (Drums and Piano) and a song writer. She loved arts and crafts, interior design, gardening and sewing and crocheting.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Ernestine Simmons Glover, father-in-law, Lucius Glover, Sr., grandson, Tyler Jones, brother-in-law John Deberry and brother, Albert Jones.

Survivors include her husband Lucius Glover, Jr., five sons: Dadisi Gibbs, Adam L. Glover (Stephanie), Lucius Glover, III, Seth Glover, Caleb Glover; three daughters: Taiyan A. Woodard-Harris(Johnnie, Jr.) of Charlotte, NC; Amanda A. Glover, and Nell Glover; three brothers: Alvin Jones of Charlotte, NC, John Jones of West Palm Beach, FL, and Earl Jones, Washington, DC; three sisters: Barbara DeBerry of Choctaw, OK; Irene Jones, of Falls Church, VA; and Evelyn Jones of Clint, MD. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and many more family and close friends.

Friends may call at Solomon’s Porch, 203 East 11th Street on Wednesday, from 10 a.m. until the time of service there at 11 a.m. with Elder Richard Randall of the Bethesda Temple of Pittsburgh, PA officiating and Prelate Alvin McCoy assisting.

Burial in Erie Cemetery.
