Sue Zimmerman

July 10, 1931 — June 27, 2016

Sue H. Zimmerman, age 84 of Millcreek Township, passed away into Eternal rest on June 27, 2016 at Fairview Manor in Fairview PA, after a brief illness.

She was born in Cerro Gordo, Illinois on July 10, 1931, daughter of the late Mary and Wesley Hayes.

She met her husband in 1949 and moved to Erie in 1950, where she spent her remaining years

raising her five children.

Sue enjoyed craft projects, watching the local wildlife in the yard and could tell you most bird types that landed on the many feeders in the yard. She was an avid reader of current events and loved watching the old B&W movies. She worked in the Erie community for over 50 years.

In addition to her parents and husband, Sue was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Jane Gordon; her eldest daughter, Mary Sue Zimmerman and a son in law, William(Bill)Braggins.

She is survived by her daughters, Jane Braggins and Laurie Kardos (Rick); her sons, John Zimmerman (Lais) and David Zimmerman (Zola); four grandchildren: Alissa Braggins-Smith (Jarid), Megan Clark (Matt), Zach Zimmerman and David Edward Zimmerman; a step-granddaughter: Shelby Kardos; a great granddaughter: Honor Josephine Braggins and a special nephew, John Gordon (Michelle) and their son, Calvin.

Friends and family may call at Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th St (at Powell Ave) on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and are invited to attend the service there on Friday at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Randy Knightlinger officiating. Burial to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

The family would like to send an extended thank you to Fairview Manor and Great Lakes Hospice for taking care of Sue during her brief illness.
