Steven C. Rapp, age 73, passed away peacefully at his residence Monday, March 3rd, 2025.
He was born in Erie on March 22, 1951, to Vincent Q. and F. Mae Rapp.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert V. Rapp; and his nephew, Alex. He is survived by a sister, Cathy L. Rightnour; sister-in-law, Carolyn Rapp, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was especially close to his niece Megan and her son Brock.
Steven graduated from McDowell High School in 1969 and then attended Erie Business Center. He then began his professional career as a loan officer with First National Bank. After that, Steven went into partnership with Dunkirk Marina in New York then expanded to Bay Harbor Marina & Shakespier’s Bar & Grill in Erie, Pennsylvania. Most notably, he developed Whispering Woods Subdivision and Whispering Woods Golf Course.
Steven always enjoyed boating; he was a long-time member of the Erie Yacht Club for 40+ years. He also had a passion for planes which developed when he was a child. He spent countless hours and years building and flying model airplanes with his father and brother. Those childhood experiences fueled his own Piper Archer II. Steven was known for his love of antique cars, especially Corvettes.
Even though Steven never had children of his own he was a loving dog dad. He leaves behind his beloved Weimaraner, Riley. She is now being cared for by his family.
He will be missed by his many friends and family who knew him for his big heart, his passion for his hobbies, and of course, his never-ending sarcasm. On behalf of steven, the family would like to thank Michael Mang and John Wieczorek for your sincere and honorable friendship to Steve. (He always needs the last laugh of course.)
